Fewer errors. Greater security for the customer. And a better overview of individual cases. The benefits of using mobile hourly reporting are practically queuing up for the Funen-based industrial company Star Industri, where even the most seasoned employees have embraced the digital innovation.
In 2009, the Funen-based forging company Star Industri took its first tentative breath. Even back then, there was one thing that nagged the founder and owner of Star Industri ApS, Per Holmer.
“Four or five years ago, I said to the guy in charge of our IT that it simply couldn't be true that there wasn't a system that could handle the way we register hours here. And since then, I've basically just been waiting for something proper to come along. And then you came along.”.
Better overview - faster follow-up on cases and offers
Star Industri started its digital journey with Intempus back in April 2014, with the first two months spent testing the product on a single project manager. After that, another 11 employees joined Intempus and the owner of Star Industri has not regretted it.
“My overview has become easier and I'm quicker to follow up on how many hours have been spent on an individual case if I get a question from a customer about it,” says Per Holmer and adds, ”If I've given a quote for 100 hours on a case, I can quickly go in and check how much time we've spent on the project and compare the figure with the original quote," - Per Folmer, owner of Star Industri.
Fewer misregistrations
Replacing fortnightly notes with digital time registration has given the Funen-based company the opportunity to make the reports more accurate. This benefits both sides of the negotiating table when it comes to invoicing.
“I believe that there is a greater certainty that it will be calculated automatically so that the customer gets the right bill. In the old days, you sat with a pen on a piece of paper and did the maths. So we should at least have minimised a certain risk of error there.”
Temporary workers' hours are also recorded
At Star Industri, the two project managers approve the hours via the computer, while the rest of the employees only report hours from their phones or tablets.
“If we occasionally have an external temp or something in, as an administrator I can enter the hours on their behalf so that we can also send their hours to the customer,” explains Per Holmer.
“Even the most seasoned employees can join in”
Although several employees have had to change their behaviour slightly, even the most experienced Star Industry employees have embraced the digital transformation.
“They use the app daily, even though it's always difficult to break ingrained habits and workflows. So even the most seasoned employees can join Intempus,” concludes Per Holmer.
